Soon Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton were bought here – it was in Puerto Vayart that the beginning of their turbulent romance began, as a result of which they were married in the Temple of Guadalupe. Other celebrities began to settle in Puerto Vayart – for example, Marlon Brando, Arnold Schwarzenegger (the latter was shot here in the movie “Predator”). So for Puerto Vayart, the status of the place is chic and romantic.

From ancient buildings it is recommended to see the Temple of Guadalupe, located in the center of the city, on the Square of the Arms. However, it is difficult to overlook the temple – almost from everywhere you can see its bell tower made of red stone.

Love Beach on the Marietta Islands

The islands of Marietta are 40 km away. from the mainland of the Nayarit Riviera. They are liked by lovers of diving, snorkeling and kayaking.

The biodiversity of the islands is amazing – in the local waters dolphins, rays, octopuses, humpback whales and dozens of other species of animals and birds live. Here is the world-famous Love Beach. It is located in a cave with a hole at the top. The sandy part of the beach is just in the sun under this oval hole, and a low arch of the cave bends over the water column. Since 2008 the archipelago has been protected by UNESCO.

What’s nearby?

Explore the covered selva mountains on horseback. An excellent route, for example, is offered at the Charro ranch – from three to eight hours on the Serra Madre mountains , and the horses are exceptionally healthy and beautiful. At Manolo Ranch, located on Mismaloa Beach, there are about 25 horses and ponies. The most popular route is designed for three hours – you cross the selva and arrive in a restaurant with typical Mexican food, in which there is a natural well, in which you can swim.

Puerto Vayarta is a mecca for lovers of wildlife. All year round in the bay you can see dolphins and giant rays, and from November to March here come humpback whales from Alaska – because of them Bay of Banderas is sometimes called the Bay of Whales.
